Over 300,000 visitors a year are attracted to our coastal community just to walk among the ancient Redwoods. They usually are headed to Redwood National Forest right in Orick CA. Just imagine standing next to one of these ancient Redwood trees, can you believe that tree has been around for more than 1000 years? I think it's pretty cool to have the California Redwood Coast is right in my backyard. How convenient.

Very quickly I realized what an outdoor enthusiast's paradise the California Redwood Coast was when I first came to Humboldt County for a summer wildlife job. Loved it so much. I stayed. Can you imagine that? So much to do, and it costs you almost nothing to have a fun weekend. Especially in a down economy when it's getting harder to go out to see a concert, or take a trip down to Mexico, let alone eat at a nice restaurant. Now you can grab a few items at Eureka Natural Foods and pack a nice picnic lunch to enjoy at one of the look out points at Patrick's Point State Park or eat among the giant Redwoods at Redwood National Park.

The California Redwood Coast isn't just about Redwoods and Coastline. There's rock climbing and wild river activities like white water rafting, fishing and swimming in the summer time for those who desire being in or near the wild CA rivers. Or just go kayaking in Humboldt Bay or right along the California Redwood Coast

Plus catch some serious waves if you're into surfing. There are several fabulous surfing spots all throughout t like College Cove (need directions - just ask).

Plus our latest addition is the our growing wine industry. And I think our wines can compete with some of those grown down in Sonoma or Napa valley.

So just imagine having nature at your finger tips, where you can just roll out of bed in the morning and choose a new adventure today, or enjoy the finer things in life - like a nice Humboldt County CA Pino Noir. How about a great hike right on the California Redwood Coast, and then for lunch a cup of clam chowder out at the pier right on the Trinidad Coast. Sounds like a mighty nice day for a hike to me.

In both scenarios I was able to get them sold. Yeah!

One was a cute Red Firehouse in Old Town Eureka CA. Very unique property for our Humboldt County Real Estate market. The house sits on a nonconforming lot and has no "true" bedrooms. Yep it's a loft. We really don't have lofts in our area - now NY that's a different story - so if the home were to ever burn down the city can't guarantee it would allow the homeowner to rebuild. Because the house doesn't meet current setback rules, etc, according to the city. Two items that could be a challenge to get a loan on. But the buyer got a loan on the property - with a sizeable down of course and the buyer's agent and I were able to get this really cool historic building sold. Yeah!

Not to say there weren't some ups and downs. This deal really put my creative problems solving skills to the test. But we successfully sold this property.

Little Red Firehouse in Eureka CA.

Second challenging Humboldt County Real Estate property - over 1000 acres of raw land with spectacular ocean views. Which sold a few months ago. Land has always been a challenge to finance. So it's good to have options to offer buyers, like owner financing. In this case it really helped. Multimillion dollar deal. Owner financing made this deal possible. My buyers may have been able to get a conventional loan, but we closed this deal right when the lending world took a huge hit.

So they said it couldn't be done. They said it was an impossible deal. Well, they were wrong. I successfully marketed both unique properties, attracted a good qualified buyer, applied creative problem solving and they both sold. So it can be done. Even in a slower, ever changing Humboldt County Real Estate market.
